The security network of Oloye Sunday Igboho, known as Iru Ekun, has again raised concerns over the activities of Nigerian security agencies following reports of moves to arrest Taani Olohun, an Isese activist.
The development comes after reports that security authorities were acting on a court order connected to allegations against Taani Olohun, who has been involved in religiois blasohemy.
Taani Olohun, whose real name is Abdulazeez Adegbola, was previously arrested in August 2023 by men of the Kwara State Police Command in Ibadan and taken to Ilorin. He was subsequently charged with offences including criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, disturbance of public peace, criminal defamation of character and intentional insult. Additional allegations, including defamation and the alleged burning of a Quran, were later brought against him.
Following the latest development, reports say Igboho contacted the Kwara State Police Command and warned against using police officers to pursue what he described as a religious agenda against Taani Olohun.
The development has once again brought the long-running controversy surrounding Taani Olohun to the forefront, with attention now focused on the alleged court order and the response of the Nigerian security authorities.
