Asake’s Custom Allah Pendant Sparks Conversation

Nigerian music star Asake has reportedly acquired a custom-made diamond necklace featuring a prominent “Allah” pendant, alongside a baguette-style diamond design, from luxury jewellery brand Icebox.
The eye-catching piece has attracted attention because of its distinctive Islamic symbolism. The Arabic calligraphy for “Allah” is prominently displayed in the centre of the pendant, combining religious imagery with high-end fashion.
The jewellery has also generated conversations online about the growing intersection of faith, identity and contemporary African celebrity culture. For some, the pendant represents an expression of Muslim identity, while others may question the use of sacred religious symbols as luxury fashion accessories.
Regardless of differing opinions, the piece demonstrates how African artistes increasingly use fashion and personal accessories not only to express wealth and style, but also aspects of their identity and beliefs.
