Some state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday declared that they had assumed control of the party after the reported removal of the David Mark-led leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The chairmen, who said they represent 25 states, made the claim amid growing internal tensions within the party’s leadership structure. They further asserted that their action had the backing of the ADC’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.
According to the group, they now constitute the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and have effectively taken over its leadership.
The development signals a deepening crisis within the ADC, as competing factions lay claim to the party’s structure and authority, raising concerns over internal cohesion and its future political direction.
