Calls for the active participation of Yoruba Muslims in politics as a means of achieving economic empowerment and social development have continued to gain momentum.

This message was reiterated on Tuesday, 21st July 2026, during the courtesy visit of the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, to Malam Yusuf Adepoju in Ilobu, Osun State.

During the visit, the Grand Mufti and Malam Yusuf Adepoju urged the newly inaugurated League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta to develop a well-defined political structure capable of mobilising Muslims from the grassroots. They stressed that strategic political participation is essential to addressing the economic challenges facing the Muslim community and ensuring that Muslims are adequately represented in governance.

They maintained that a united and organised political structure would strengthen the voice of Yoruba Muslims, promote their socio-economic interests, and contribute to the overall progress of the Muslims in Yorubaland.
